You don't even need consecrations or truesilvers anymore, just those cards. Shielded minibot, murloc knight, now keeper of uldaman. Do you know why Paladins are the top-tier class in arena? Because over a few expansions they got really fucking good COMMON cards. Similarly to constructed, 1 or 2 cards can change an entire meta and make the class ridiculously overpowered. And not really good, but really really broken.Īnd now people are literally saying that they preemptively hate playing against mages in arenaīecause of a single six-mana card that is usually slightly overstated for its cost. So blizzard announces a single new 6-mana common card for arena, that will probably be really good. If I play a big minion and my opponent Keepers it, my whole investment from last turn is basically lost. Faceless Summoner is clearly a very strong card but I'm not going to be getting to turn 6 in arena and be praying that my opponent doesn't have it, otherwise I lose, the way Keeper tends to be.Įdit: to add, if I play a big minion or have a board and my opponent dumps Summoner, I have the option to just ignore it and go face with my big guy, or trade. Barring the case where you get one of 3 charge minions, dropping Summoner cannot completely remove your opponents tempo the way Keeper does, nor is it particularly versatile outside of a few fringe cases. Uldaman is toxic in arena atm because if you drop an 8-or-9 mana minion and your opponent just Keepers it, you basically just lose. Keeper allows you to trade up in the early game like Dark Iron Dwarf, while more importantly allowing you to completely neuter an opponent's big threats. I'll repeat myself in some previous comments and insist that Faceless Summoner is not directly analogous to how strong Keeper of Uldaman is, particularly in Arena. IMO, this card is not only super dull and anti-fun, but got furthermore distributed to a class that needed it the least. This card is a no brainer powerhouse in a class that ought to rely on a sufficient arsenal of spells rather than sheer board presence that you can neither play around, nor has ANY kind of drawback. Second, why is this card common? Rare cards occur often enough to still push mage's tier in arena with this card since it is that strong, so who the hell came up with the idea of this being a common? Simply switch Servants rarity with this one and BOOM, you have a slight tweak to mage's dominance in arena, since servant is unreliable, while you still have that Dr.6 on a rare. It would increase priest's arena tier significantly and since priest does not run tempo decks in constrcuted it would still be quite strong, but not blatantly overpowered. So why would Blizz give that class a no brainer Dr.6. Mage has been godtier in arena ever since. Main reason for my hate for this card is that it's a mage one. See, it's not the card itself that makes it so ridicolous.
